2019 AKHA: Uyo people beg UK-based Mental Health Practitioner, Jimaimah to rescue them

Hundreds of youths of Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have joined thousands of Etoi Clan people clamouring for Akparawa Jimaimah Jimmy Essien, United Kingdom based Mental Health Practitioner, to contest the 2019 House of Assembly election.

The youths under the auspices of Uyo Youth Political Support Group (Uyo-PSG) made their position known during a press statement issued, Saturday, 20th January 2018 and jointly signed by its President; Kenneth Jumbo and Secretary; Barr Abasiubong Essien.

The group observed that they have carefully screened all the people jostling for the seat and found that Jimaimah Essien was the best of them all.

When the group approached the Akparawa Essien recently, on the need for him to accept the People's call to represent the constituency come 2019, the Philanthropist, who is fondly called “Ubók enó-enó,” promised to rescue the constituency from every form of misrepresentation if elected into the House of Assembly in 2019.

He said: “I am indeed humbled by the clarion call on me by the ever political conscious youths of Uyo State Constituency to come on board to salvage our constituency from total misrepresentation in the past. I am left with no option than to yield to the voice of my people.”

The group further stated that they believe in truth that if the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will ensure a level playing field for all candidates, Dr Essien would win the election overwhelmingly.

In a related development, the people of Ifa Atai, where Jimaimah hails from, have described the movement as a train for changing the sour stories of Uyo people, which no one can stop, saying “those who say our philanthropic leader will not occupy the House of Assembly seat in 2019, should keep watching to see what God has already perfected.”

Uyo-PSG stated emphatically that Akparawa Essien is the right leader with the needed credibility and capacity that will fix the numerous problems of Uyo people and move the Constituency forward economically.

“Every right thinking person of Uyo is solidly behind you (Jimaimah Essien). We want to ensure that the mistakes of yesterday are not repeated because people of Uyo are in political bondage for now and he is the only person who can rescue us from the hands of selfish politicians”.

The group urged Jimaimah Essien to make himself available for the House of Assembly race come 2019, stressing that, Uyo people are fed up with other contenders and needed a change.

Meanwhile, Akparawa Jimaimah Jimmy Essien is one of the founding fathers of Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio in Manchester, United Kingdom. He has given permanent jobs in the UK to a good number of Uyo and Akwa Ibom people and however sponsored indigent students in the higher and tertiary institutions since 2011.

Hon Sam Ikon who is currently representing the Etinan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has today flag-off a free medical and surgical outreach for the people of Etinan at the Primary Health Care Operational Base, Etinan. The free medical outreach include free surgeries, free eye checks and glasses, free counseling and free drugs administration at the General Hospital Mbioto 2 and all the wards in Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The outreach which begins today will run till 2nd of February 2018 for all Etinan Local Government indigenes while Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom local government areas will take their turn next two weeks respectively.
