The people of Eket Local Government Area have lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for another commendable achievement by his administration, adding that no fewer than eight (8) ongoing road construction in their area would transform and boost their various economic activities.

The Chairman, Eket Local Government Council, Rt Hon Frank Archibong, disclosed this on Tuesday, shortly after an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing road projects financed by the State government in the area.

The team which was led by the State Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyang-Eyen inspected the 2.7km Ikot Odiong-Ikot Abasi Road, 2.082 Chief Assam Crescent Ede Urua Road and Spur, Ikot Udota Road, Edem Udo Street, as well as a gully on Idua Road which requires urgent intervention.

Rt Hon Archibong specifically hailed the governor for what he termed "superior performance of the Udom Emmanuel led administration" and promised that Eket electorate will vote en-masse for him in appreciation of his good works in Ekid Nation in particular and the entire Akwa Ibom State.

In the words of the Council boss: "This is good governance brought to the grassroots. On behalf of my people, I must say that Eket people are joyous and happy. Indeed, there is no obstacle on our way because I know we (Eket Senatorial District) still have six more years of robust leadership and high quality roads construction", he said

Continuing, the Chairman hinted: "If I have my way, I would tell His Excellency the governor not to come to Eket for his re-election campaigns because we have since declared our stands that Mr Udom Emmanuel has eight years to remain as Governor of Akwa Ibom State", Archibong said.

Answering questions from newsmen after inspecting the progress of work on the aforementioned roads, Commissioner Ephraim Inyang-Eyen assured that the roads and many others would be ready for inauguration by the governor by May this year.

"In Eket, I can state authoritatively that I am satisfied with what we have done here but His Excellency has assured that he is going to redouble his efforts here", the Commissioner noted.

On the Eket remodeling and beautification work, Mr InyangEyen said the job was ongoing and however explained that the slow pace of work was caused by outcry by the people including those that have been compensated.

He noted that the State government was on the verge of paying compensation to another set of property owners which will terminate at the Eket round-about and appealed to the people to cooperate with the government.

He however, commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for keeping his promise of transforming the highly populated area by bringing meaningful development that touches the lives of the people.

One of the contractors; Engr Uwem Okoko of Hensek Integrated Services, thanked the governor for keeping faith with the services of the indigenous contractors and promised to live up to expectation at all times.
