BREAKING: MAN, 35, BAGS 3 MONTHS IMPRISONMENT FOR STEALING GIRLFRIEND'S CELL PHONE

A 35 year old man identified as Daniel Bidem has been sentenced to 3 months imprisonment for allegedly stealing girlfriend's cell phone valued at N47,000 in Abuja.
The accused, Bidem who was arraigned on one count of stealing before the Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, of Garki II, Abuja, on Thursday was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to the offence and begged for leniency.
Mibiola Olajumoke, girlfriend of the accused who reside at No 13, Matadi Street, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja, reported the matter at Utako Police Station on February 19.
She said Bidem had taken her to a hotel at Wuse II on 16th February at about 2:30 pm to buy her food but dishonestly scat away with her phone and sold it.
However, the Judge, Mr. Abubakar Sadiq, gave him an option of N20,000 fine.
Sadiq ordered Bidem to pay N40,000 as compensation to the complainant and warned him to desist from committing crime.
The Prosecutor, Mr. Dalhatu Zannah, earlier told the court that; 
“Bidem dishonestly and smartly stole the complainant’s Techno CX phone worth N47,000,’’
''The accused sold the phone to an unknown person in Wuse market at the rate of N10,000.''
''All efforts to recover the stolen cell phone failed.''
''During police investigation, Bidem confessed to have sold the phone for N10,000.'' The prosecutor said.
