FORMER MINISTER FOR INTERNAL AFFAIRS, JOHN SHAGAYA DIES IN AUTO CRASH

The National Chairman Institute for Policy and Strategy Studies (NIPSS) Mr John Nanzip Shagaya was Sunday, 11th February involved in a ghastly motor accident along Langtang-Pankshin Road while travelling to Jos.

Shagaya who was the former Minister for Internal Affairs under the administration of President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida and a former senior Military Officer lost his life when his vehicle crashed into a tree around 2:25 p.m on Sunday.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in its preliminary findings released by its spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem said.

Mr Shagaya had suffered a head injury during the crash and subsequently died. His body has been deposited at a morgue run by the Nigeria Air Force in Jos, the state capital.
Mr. Kazeem said Shagaya, a retired brigadier-general, was travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV with his driver and orderly, a civil defence officer, when the accident occurred.
The driver and the officer survived and are currently receiving treatment at the general hospital in Pankshin.
The FRSC team from Langtang Unit Command was at the scene of the crash almost immediately after it occurred. He said.

Hon Sam Ikon who is currently representing the Etinan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has today flag-off a free medical and surgical outreach for the people of Etinan at the Primary Health Care Operational Base, Etinan. The free medical outreach include free surgeries, free eye checks and glasses, free counseling and free drugs administration at the General Hospital Mbioto 2 and all the wards in Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The outreach which begins today will run till 2nd of February 2018 for all Etinan Local Government indigenes while Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom local government areas will take their turn next two weeks respectively.
