ANNANG UNREST: AKWA IBOM STATE GOVERNMENT MAKES MOVE
Following the recent killings and kidnapping in Etim Ekpo, Ukanafun and other neighbouring Annang communities, the Akwa Ibom State Government on Monday declared curfew in these troubled local government areas to ensure that lives and property of residents of the area are safeguarded.
In a press release made available to the general public, the Akwa Ibom state government through it's Commissioner for Information reiterates, that the decision was to ensure lives of people living in these troubled areas are secured and protected.

RESTRICTION OF USE OF MOTORCYCLES
AND MOVEMENT

As part of efforts to ensure continued safety and security in Akwa Ibom State, the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has directed as follows;
1. The enforcement of a curfew in Ukanafun and Etim Ekpo Local Government Areas between 6pm and 7am daily.
2. The prohibition of the use of motorcycles in Ukanafun, Etim Ekpo and Ika Local Government Areas between 6pm and 7am daily
3. The prohibition of the use of motorcycles in Ikot Ekpene and Eket Local Government Areas between 6pm and 6am daily
4. The enforcement of the continued ban of the use of motorcycles within the Uyo Capital City.
These directives take immediate effect. Offenders will be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
His Excellency, the Governor reiterates his commitment to ensuring continued safety of lives and properties in the State; and urges all law-abiding citizens, residents and visitors to cooperate with security operatives in this pursuit.
