CELEBRITY COUPLE LOSES LIFE IN SINGLE CAR CRASH

The city of California have been thrown into a state of melancholy as the NBA erstwhile player Rasual Butler and his singer wife, Leah Labelle lost their lives in the early hours of Wednesday in a single car crash in Studio city, California. The Arsenal football club   are close to securing the future of Mesut Ozil to a lucrative new contract, which would make the Germany international the highest paid player in the league. As first reported by  Bild , Ozil has agreed to extend his stay at the Emirates by committing to a new three and a half year deal worth a reported £350,000 per week. Arsenal have denied that the deal has been signed yet but an agreement is understood to be close. NIGERIAN ARMY ARREST INFAMOUS NATIVE DOCTOR IN BENUE STATE

The troops of the 707 Special Brigade Markudi, Monday arrested an infamous native doctor identified as Tordue Gber alias (Tiv swem) in connection with the supply of charms to the militias. The Nigerian Army disclosed on Wednesday that they discovered a base use by armed militias terrorising Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states at Tor-Dunga Town in the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State. ANAMBRA POLICE PARADE MEN WHO USE SICK CHILDREN FOR ALMS BEGGING

Two suspects were on Tuesday arrested by the Anambra State Police men for the alleged use of abducted children with ailments to beg alms in the city of Onitsha. The police disclosed that the two suspects identified as Friday Edet and Ezekiel Ubong from Akwa Ibom State makes N25,000 daily from the alms begging. The suspects, who had since been detained at the Onitsha prisons, claimed to be members of a humanitarian group. Factsreporter gathered from PUNCH Metro   that the group specialised in parading children with different kinds of ailment and use them for alms begging in the State. They were arrested by the Fegge division of the Nigeria Police Force. The Fegge Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Rabiu Garba, who confirmed the incident, said the suspects were notorious for using abducted children for alms begging in locations different from their states after inflicting injuries and ailments on them to attract public sympathy.

Hon Sam Ikon who is currently representing the Etinan Federal Constituency at the National Assembly has today flag-off a free medical and surgical outreach for the people of Etinan at the Primary Health Care Operational Base, Etinan. The free medical outreach include free surgeries, free eye checks and glasses, free counseling and free drugs administration at the General Hospital Mbioto 2 and all the wards in Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The outreach which begins today will run till 2nd of February 2018 for all Etinan Local Government indigenes while Nsit Ubium and Nsit Ibom local government areas will take their turn next two weeks respectively. BREAKING: BAUCHI STATE DETECTS 206 NEW LEPROSY CASES

The Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS,Tuberculosis/Leprosy and Malaria, BACATM A, has revealed that  206 new cases of leprosy were discovered in 2017. The number which represents 0.3 per 10,000 population in the state, showed that the number of children affected was 32 representing 15.5 percent of the 206 new leprosy cases.   Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Agency Dr. Mansur Mustapha Dada, stated yesterday during a press briefing, as part of activities to mark the commemoration of World Leprosy Day in Bauchi State.  '' leprosy is a chronic disease caused by a bacteria called Mycobacterium Leprae and is transmitted by minute droplets through the upper respiratory tract. Nigerian Air Force ( NAF),  Monday said its Remotely-Piloted Aircraft (RPA) has successfully annihilate an artillery gun and some gun trucks belonging to the Boko Haram Terrorists at the Parisu axis of the Sambisa forest killing many in the process. The Nigerian Air Force spokesperson, Air Vice Marshal Olatokunbo Adesanyan, in a statement, said The use of the Remotely Piloted Aircraft followed an Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platform proving the presence of the Boko Haram terrorists in the area following their  withdrawal with the artillery gun and gun trucks after an unsuccessful operation in the area. AKWA IBOM SYRINGE FACTORY: GOV. UDOM OPENS UP ON OWNERSHIP

            BY CLETUS UKPONG. The Akwa Ibom State Government has cleared the air on the controversy surrounding the ownership of a multi-million naira syringe manufacturing company in the state. The syringe factory was inaugurated by Nigeria’s Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, in September, last year, as part of the activities to mark the 30th anniversary of the oil-rich state. The factory is said to have the capacity to produce 350 million units of 2ml, 5ml, and 10ml disposable syringes annually. The Vice President had also inaugurated an Electric Metering Factory in the state. Both industries are located in Onna Local Government Area, where Governor Udom Emmanuel hails from. Governor Emmanuel has been accused by the opposition of covering up on the true ownership of the companies. Rapper Olamide, the ''WO'' crooner recently released a banging hit titled ''science student'' which has spark outrage by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and music critics. The NBC has issued a ‘Not To Be Broadcast’ (NTBB) warning against the rapper's hit song.   Proscribing the song as being unfit for broadcast on all radio and television stations. The Head of Public Affairs, NBC, Hajia Maimuna Jimada confirmed NBC’s stand on the trending song, stating that the regulatory body did not ban the song but considered it unfit for broadcast. She told Tribune “NBC does not ban music. Our mandate is on what goes on Radio and TV.
